Raised in lovely northern California, he grew up singing, playing the piano, making strange and sometimes annoying sounds with his mouth, getting sent to the principle's office at least once a year (for biting classmates and generally starting ruckus), and spelunking with his youth group, the NorCal DorKals.
After coming to USC in the fall of 2004, David felt inclined to experience life on the wild side, so he decided to audition for a group that reminded of him of his youth group from his days as a kid in the suburban jungle of Palo Alto. When at first, he did not get in to the group, he did not despair. For he remembered the quote from VoCal Donald Webber, Jr.'s page that said, "Fail... Fail again... Fail better." After taking a year to recollect himself, he auditioned again in January of 2007 and failed so much better that he got into the group. He is now proud to be a world class cliff diver and to sing bass as one of the select few who can call themselves "VoCal."
